Hanger Assembly

A desalter transformer vessel grid hanger assembly is a specialized mechanical–electrical support structure used inside electrostatic crude oil desalters in refineries. It holds and electrically isolates the electrode grid system that creates the high-voltage electrostatic field for separating water, salts, and impurities from crude oil.

Function in a Desalter

In a crude oil desalter:

  • High voltage (typically 15–35 kV) is applied to electrodes
  • The hanger assembly ensures:
  • Proper spacing between electrodes
  • Stable positioning under flow conditions
  • Electrical insulation from grounded parts
